Introduction
The discipline of health informatics is growing in importance and is attracting more and more attention in the fields of health and technology. The application area of health informatics is wide as it varies from Extra-Hospital applications (i.e. tele-medicine, tele-care, tele-monitoring) Intra-Hospital application (e.g. Picture Archiving and Communication Systems, Hospital Information Systems, Radiologic Information System), to other more recent applications such as Health Virtual communities, and Decision Support Systems. The aim of this discipline is to offer support for health care delivery providing the right information at the right time to the right people in the right cost.
This book aims to explore new perspectives for Health Informatics in the areas of Health Management and Health Policy. The two areas of Health Policy and Management are well established but are usually addressed independently in the Health Informatics discipline.
Objective of the Book
Health researchers in Management and policy, as well as Managers and Policy makers, work usually irrespectively of new advancement in Health Informatics. The unique perspective of this upcoming book is the integration of Health Informatics, Management and Policy perspectives in healthcare delivery; it will address the potential of Health Informatics to provide a platform that supports Health Management and Policy decisions. This book will provide new perspectives that show how Health Informatics can be used by Health Management and Health policy researchers in order to provide solutions to pending problems in the health sector. The book will provide a vision that for the coming decades. However, it will supply the vision with several research examples in health care Management and policy where Health Informatics can come to hand.
Target Audience
The people that can take advantage of this book are:
1- Masters and PhD students in Management, Policy, and Informatics can use this book to widen their perspective in health Management, health Policy, or Health informatics. The book will serve these students by widening their research view and/or by providing a textbook-like source for advanced Health informatics, Management and Policy courses.
2- Researchers in the fields of Management, Policy and Informatics will profit from this book’s holistic and integrative perspective. It will provide them with rich pool of ideas in how to use informatics in their respective fields of research.
3- Managers in NGO's and governmental bodies would use the book to understand the new solutions that informatics can provide in their strategic planning, as well as mid and long-term solutions for their activities in healthcare delivery.

Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before May 30, 2012, a 1-2 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified at most by June 15, 2012 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by September 15, 2012. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
