SPECIAL ISSUE ON Human and Political Dimensions of Risk
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RISK AND CONTINGENCY MANAGEMENT (IJRCM)
INTRODUCTION:
The focus is on the human and political dimensions of security awareness, risk management, disaster awareness, planning, mitigation and economic recovery.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS:
Topics to be discussed in this issue include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Reflective cost benefit studies of risk management in homeland security or disaster recovery.
- Global security practices (empirical studies, surveys, case studies, etc.)
- Contrasts of cases with positive/negative outcomes from natural disasters or crises.
- Leading, controlling, managing, training or teaching risks, uncertainty, complexity or decision making for risk management.
- Knowledge management, project management, organizational learning, collaboration or maturity models.
- Human side of risk and disaster prevention/mitigation - policies, measures, competencies, staffing, stress.
- Global supply chain management, logistics and risk management practices, surveys or comparative studies.
- Macro, micro and social economics of risk management from specific cultural or disciplinary stand points.
- Event reviews of conferences about the above topics

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special focus issue on or before September 1, 2012. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL’S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS (see http://www.igi-global.com/Files/AuthorEditor/guidelinessubmission.pdf and http://personal.plattsburgh.edu/kstra003/ijrcm/). All submitted papers will be reviewed on a double-blind, peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for reference citations.
ABOUT International Journal of Risk and Contingency Management (IJRCM):
The mission of the International Journal of Risk and Contingency Management (IJRCM) is to discover what risk and uncertainty mean to different disciplines and industries. Risks are known in the sense they can be measured but it is the underlying uncertainty that remains elusive. Risk is present across industries and sectors (private, public, and non-profit). As a result, organizations and government around the world are currently experiencing higher levels of risk. At the other end of the spectrum from risk, contingency is the buffer against expected risk and uncertainty. The journal provides an interdisciplinary approach to risk and contingency management, encouraging researchers and practitioners to provide best practices and a look into the future of this field.
