The 2013 International Conference on Asia-Pacific Studies
ANNOUNCEMENT：
For the past two decades, the Asia-Pacific region has drawn lots of attention from the world with its strong economic growth, intriguing political development, fierce territorial disputes in both the East and South China Sea, and the increasing consolidation and development of ASEAN. Also, a number of countries in the Asia-Pacific have held nationwide elections in recent years, including Malaysia in March 2008 and, another again in March 2013, the Philippines in May 2010, Singapore in May 2011, Thailand in July 2011, Taiwan in January 2012, China in November 2012, and Japan and South Korea in December 2012. Given these political changes in these countries and ongoing regionalization and globalization in the region, it is likely to see more challenges in the Asia-Pacific.
The dynamic and rapid changes in this region have attracted serious academic studies and investigations from around the world. More and more students, scholars, and experts have devoted countless time and efforts in following up the dynamics, however this is ongoing absent a platform to understand the region as a whole.
This is our major motivation in initiating the 2013 international conference on Asia-Pacific Studies, which aims to highlight interdisciplinary researches on political science, economics, sociology, history and culture studies, etc. The conference is hoping to promote a greater exchange of studies, interactions, and dialogues among students and scholars in the fields of theories, political and economic development, security, policy studies, cross-border migration, globalization and regionalization, as well as other topics related to Asia-Pacific Studies.
With lots of positive feedbacks and productive comments from the 2012 conference, the Institute of China and Asia-Pacific Studies at National Sun Yat-sen University, together with the Department of Political Science at the University of the Philippines, sincerely welcomes students, scholars, and experts to share your diligent studies with us in this engaging event.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION：
English will be the only working language in the conference, and papers must be written in English. Paper abstracts must be submitted as Word documents and contain a title of the submission, name and affiliation of the author(s), contact information (Education, Academic Experience, Full address, Telephone, and E-mail) and the appropriate field (i.e., political science, economics, international relations, regional studies, etc). If more than two authors are listed, please identify the one who will make the presentation at the conference.

Important Dates
Deadline of abstract submission: April 30, 2013.
Notification of accepted papers: May 15, 2013.
Deadline of full paper submission: September 30, 2013. (If your paper is not received by the deadline, your name will be removed from the conference agenda.)
Conference Dates: November 7-9, 2013.
